SCMMA’s annual general meeting will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 12 p.m. Please attend in person in Council Chambers if possible; however, this will be a hybrid meeting. A save-the-date calendar invitation went to members and we send a reminder in the coming weeks.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Join the team that builds a better workplace! There are four positions open for election at the AGM. Please review the following information about the duties of each position and consider putting your name forward.
WHY SHOULD I VOLUNTEER ON THE SCMMA BOARD?

HOW DO I RUN FOR A POSITION?
To run for an officer position in this coming election, please send an email to the SCMMA board (dlSCMMA-Board@Saskatoon.ca) with the names of your nominator and seconder. Once verified, your name will be added to the ballot.
There will be a call for nominations at the AGM, but once voting has opened, we cannot add anyone else to the ballot, so letting us know in advance is greatly appreciated.
All officers shall commence their duties on November 1 and are elected for a term of three years.
Positions up for election
President (3-year term)
Preside at all meetings of the union. They shall enforce the provisions of the Constitution. They shall appoint all such Committees as the Executive Board may deem necessary or expedient for furthering the objectives of SCMMA and shall be an ex-officio member of such Committees. They shall perform such other duties as the union or Executive Board may assign to them.
Director Pension and Benefits (3-year term)
The Director Pension Benefits Committee shall represent SCMMA at the City of Saskatoon Pension Benefit Committee. They will review benefits available arising out of Plan surpluses and to recommend benefit improvements to the Board and membership. They bring forward to the Board any recommendations for plan improvements not arising out of Plan surpluses made to the City and the employee organizations as subjects to be dealt with as part of the collective bargaining process. They are responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Employee and Family Assistance Program. They attend the Quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees – General Superannuation Plan and report to the Board.
Director Member Services (3-year term)
Responsible for planning, delivery, and evaluation of Association sponsored programs and services (Wellness, social committees, golf tournament); serves as a liaison between the City, other unions, and the Association regarding joint programs and services; recruits Association members to participate on committees as required.
Steward (3-year term)
Three 3-year and one 1-year term positions open.
Represent the union in the workplace and represent workers at meetings of the union. Ensure the collective agreement is being enforced where you work. Participate in executive meetings and member outreach.
Priority is given to spreading the stewards across different work groups and work locations to provide good coverage of our entire membership.
